Net investments in the national economy totalled 216.45 billion lei last year, up 5% compared with 2024, according to data National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Thursday.
Thus, new construction works increased in 2025 by 6.1%, totalling 133.86 billion lei, other investment expenditure rose 4.3% to 24.16 billion lei at current prices, while spending on machinery (including transport equipment) recorded an increase of 3.5%, reaching 58.42 billion lei.
In the last quarter of 2025, compared with the same period in 2024, net investments in the national economy increased 7.7% to 73.59 billion lei, following growth recorded across all structural components: other investment expenditure advanced 36.4% (8.51 billion lei), machinery - including transport equipment - by 7.6% (21.51 billion lei) and new construction works by 3.5% (43.56 billion lei at current prices).
Net investments represent expenditure intended for the creation of new fixed assets, the development, modernisation and reconstruction of existing ones, as well as the value of services related to the transfer of ownership of existing fixed assets and land acquired for payment from other units or from the population (notarial fees, commissions, transport and handling costs, etc.).
