PM discusses with new American ambassador to Romania strengthening partnership with U.S.

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan received on Thursday, at Victoria Palace, the new ambassador of the United States of America to Romania, Darryl Nirenberg, who was on an introductory visit, in which context he emphasized that the partnership with the U.S. is a solid one and his objective is to consolidate it not only in the security component, but also in the economic and investment one.

"Welcome to Romania and much success in your mandate, so that the solid cooperation between Romania and the United States of America is consolidated and reaches a new level. In your mission, you can count on a fair partnership with the Government of Romania", said Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, quoted in a Government press release.

During the discussions, the Prime Minister presented the CSAT decision on the temporary deployment of some American defensive equipment and military forces in Romania, emphasizing that this reflects Romania's strategic position and the role of the Strategic Partnership with the U.S. in ensuring national security.

"For Romania, security and defense constitute the foundation of the Strategic Partnership between our countries and we work together to adapt them to new challenges and to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including within NATO," the press release states.

The prime minister also mentioned that the Government's priorities are maintaining political stability, adopting a responsible budget, continuing to reduce the budget deficit and consolidating a healthy economy.

At the same time, the prime minister emphasized that the Partnership with the U.S. is a solid one and its objective is to consolidate it not only in terms of security, but also in terms of economy and investment.

"A priority is the increase in American investments in the Romanian economy, and the measures adopted aim to create a more competitive and attractive business environment. In this regard, the prime minister and the U.S. ambassador agreed to have a new meeting in April dedicated to the analysis of joint economic projects, taking into account cooperation opportunities in the fields of energy, emerging technologies and critical minerals," according to the press release.

The meeting at Victoria Palace was attended by the Prime Minister, along with the Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Mihai Jurca, and the State Counselor within the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Luminita Odobescu.
