New Code Yellow scorching heat warnings, valid Wednesday and Thursday

The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued new Code Yellow scorching heat warnings, valid both on Wednesday in four counties and on Thursday in 22 counties and the Municipality of Bucharest.

According to meteorologists, On Wednesday between 12:00 and 21:00, in the counties of Dolj, Mehedinti, Olt, and Teleorman, a Code Yellow alert is in place due to exceptionally high temperatures for this time of year, with highs of 33-35 degrees Celsius. In addition, thermal discomfort will be high (temperature-humidity index - THI - around the critical threshold of 80 units).

Also, on Thursday, between 12:00 and 21:00, in areas of Banat, Oltenia, Muntenia, the south of Crisana, the south-west of Transylvania, as well as in continental Dobrogea, exceptionally high temperatures will be recorded, with maximums ranging between 32 and 36 degrees Celsius.

In Oltenia and Muntenia, thermal discomfort will be significant, with localised heatwaves, and the temperature-humidity index (THI) will slightly exceed the critical threshold of 80 units.

The counties affected by the second Code Yellow warning are: Alba, Arges, Arad, Braila, Buzau, Calarasi, Caras-Severin, Constanta, Dambovita, Dolj, Gorj, Giurgiu, Hunedoara, Ilfov, Ialomita, Mehedinti, Olt, Prahova, Tulcea, Timis, Teleorman, Valcea and the Municipality of Bucharest.

For the capital area, hot weather is forecast for Wednesday and Thursday, with variable cloudiness and light to moderate winds. The maximum temperature will be 30-32 degrees on Wednesday, but will rise to as much as 35 degrees on Thursday.
