Targu Mures International Airport "Transilvania" will operate, starting from the end of March 2026, nine new flights to Brussels Charleroi (Belgium), Larnaca (Cyprus), Paris Beauvais (France), Dortmund and Memmingen (Germany), Milan Bergamo and Rome Fiumicino (Italy), Basel (Switzerland), as well as London Luton (Great Britain), to which the already existing route to Budapest will be added.

"In a short time, from Transilvania Airport we can fly to 10 destinations in 8 countries. From home we can quickly and directly reach the major cities of Europe (...). This day is particularly important for the Mures County Council and for Targu Mures Airport, because today not only are new flights being launched, but a new stage in the history of the airport is also beginning. From home, at affordable prices, we can fly to the major cities of Europe (...). It is undeniable that the airport plays a key role in the economic development of Mures County, attracting new investments, creating jobs and contributing to a better quality of life for the inhabitants of the region. That is why its operation, maintenance and continuous development represent a huge challenge", President of the Mures County Council, Peter Ferenc, told a ceremony organized at the airport.

The president of the Mures County Council pointed out that after the completion of the runway modernization works, the new European operating license was obtained and that, despite the serious decline generated by the pandemic, the airport development works continued to bring it up to European standards, and the passenger terminal was expanded to a capacity of 1,500 passengers simultaneously.

The Vice President of the Mures County Council, Csibi Attila-Zoltán, emphasized that the airport is one of his priorities, and after a year since the start of the discussions, the largest airline on the Romanian market is returning to Targu Mures.

Wizz Air's Director of Communications, András Radó, announced during a press conference on Monday that the company will reopen its base in Targu Mures and that, with the allocation of another aircraft in the winter, the company will operate a total of 39 aircraft in Romania.

The Director of the Targu Mures International Airport "Transilvania", Peti András, stated that the stationing of a base aircraft requires the highest professional and safety standards, but that the institution has prepared itself, both from a personnel perspective and through technological modernization and the consolidation of security systems.
