None of 221 passengers on a plane that made an emergency landing in Cluj-Napoca on Tuesday needed medical attention.
"The Avram Iancu International Airport in Cluj informs that, today, a Wizz Air plane, which was performing flight no. W9 5400, on the route Brasov - Luton, requested an emergency landing at Cluj Airport, following damage to the aircraft's fuselage. On board the Airbus 321N aircraft were 221 passengers, 5 infants and 7 crew members, and the amount of fuel at the time of landing was 10 tonnes. An emergency management plan was activated, and the fire brigades of the Cluj International Airport acted quickly, moving in the vicinity of the take-off and landing runway, being ready to intervene until the arrival of the crews from the Emergency Management Inspectorate (ISU). Four ISU special vehicles and three ambulances arrived at the Cluj International Airport shortly before the aircraft landed," reads a press release sent by the airport.
The aircraft landed safely at the Cluj International Airport, but the intervention of firefighters or doctors from the ambulances at the scene was not necessary.
"Air traffic at the Cluj Airport was not affected, all flights being carried out according to schedule. The passengers were disembarked safely, and the airline representatives and the staff of the Cluj International Airport provide all the support that the passengers need. Following the incident, a specialist team performs a technical inspection of the aircraft, and the company's representatives will decide whether the flight will be carried out on the same aircraft or the passengers will be taken over by another aircraft of the airline.
