Number of applications increase 30% in July from previous month (recruitment platform)
The number of applications increased by 30% in July, compared to June, although the supply of jobs remains at the previous month's level, reveals a study published by an online recruitment platform on Tuesday, told Agerpres.
According to the source, it is the second year in a row that candidates are stepping up their activity in the middle of summer, a period intended more for vacation planning than career planning, even though the job offer has stagnated, a typical sign of the season.
Thus, people looking for new career opportunities registered on the bestjobs recruitment platform around 650,000 applications in July, 30% more than the previous month and 20% more than in July 2022.
The study's authors argue that this dynamic indicates increased competition among candidates planning to change jobs this summer. In addition, there is a marked increase in activity among women, accounting for 57% of all active candidates, as well as in the 18-24 age segment.
"Events in recent years have triggered a significant wave of change in the labour market, especially in the behaviour and preferences of candidates. One of these is the increased activity of candidates during the summer, especially in July. Usually, during this period, recruitment activity is slightly reduced due to holidays. On bestjobs, however, for the past two years, candidates have been taking advantage of the more free periods to look for a new job, mainly for better pay, flexible working conditions and more benefits, according to the platform's data. In addition, since we launched the Artificial Intelligence-based career guidance tool, BIA, which also functions as a personalised search engine, it is much easier for users to reach the jobs they want and apply," said Bestjobs Marketing Manager Ana Visian.
Since the beginning of the summer, the terms "manager," "sales representative" and "remote" have registered 100,000 searches each.
In the last 60 days, among the most searched positions on the bestjobs platform were "manager," "sales representative," "engineer," "driver" or "teacher," each with around 100,000 searches. With the same level of interest, the phrases "remote," "part time" or "online at home" were also searched.
However, most applications went to Sales (20%), Finance/Accounting (14%), IT/Telecom (10%), Management (8%), Call centre/Customer Support (7%).
The most CVs this summer are for: order manager, Profi - 3,467 applicants, customer service representative, RINA Hotels - 3,261 applicants, customer service, call centre officer remote, Euro Wish - 3,104 applicants, part-time sales assistant, H&M - 3,090 applicants, backoffice agent with English (remote), Telus International - 3,027 applicants.
On the recruiting side, many companies have remained very active in looking for new employees, among them Lidl, ING Romania and Interbrands Orbico.
