Number of job vacancies drops to 45,300 in Q3

Job vacancies in Q3 2022 stood at 45,300, by 700 fewer compared to the previous quarter, shows data released on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The estimated job vacancy rate in Q3 was 0.90 percent, by 0.01 percentage points lower compared to the previous quarter and 0.05 percentage points down year-over-year, as the number of vacancies dropped by 2,000 from the year-ago period, told Agerpres.

In the reporting period, the job vacancy rate was highest in public administration (1.86 percent), water distribution, sanitation, waste management and decontamination activities (1.58 percent), and transport and warehousing (1.57 percent).

The manufacturing industry provided for a little more than one quarter of the total number of vacancies (11,600), with a vacancy rate of 1.06 percent.

According to INS data, the public sector accounted for 23 percent of the total number of job vacancies, of which 5,100 were in public administration, 3,400 in health care and social assistance, and 2,000 in education.

Conversely, the sectors with the lowest vacancy rate were services (0.24 percent) and the mining industry (0.28 percent).

The fewest vacancies were in real estate transactions, other services, and the mining industry (100 each).
