The number of newly established companies running on foreign capital declined by 3,45% in the first 11 months of 2018 compared with the similar period of 2017, down to 5,206 units, according to data centralized by the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).
The 5,206 new companies had a subscribed capital totalling about 46.69 million US dollars, up 20% compared to January-November 2017.
According to the ONRC, in November 2018, there were registered 488 companies running on foreign capital, most of them in Bucharest - 221 and Timis County - 35, and 27 in each of the Cluj and Ilfov counties.
Between 1991 and 2017, there were set up 215,651 companies running on foreign capital, with the total value of their subscribed capital exceeding 61.3 billion US dollars.
On November 30, 2018, there were registered 220,857 foreign-owned companies in Romania, most of them, 47,081, running on Italian capital, while the largest value in terms of the subscribed capital belonged to the Dutch companies, namely 12.718 billion US dollars, invested in 5,249 companies.
