Minister of foreign affairs Oana Toiu, who is currently paying a visit to Washington, had a meeting on Wednesday with representatives of member companies of the American-Romanian Business Council (AMRO).

The meeting, hosted by AMRO president Eric Stewart, brought together companies from various fields of activity such as defence, energy, technology, communications, health, and financial services, informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Thursday.

According to the same source, minister Oana Toiu appreciated the constant consolidation of economic exchanges between Romania and the United States of America, emphasising the importance and commercial opportunities arising from the Strategic Partnership between the two countries, an essential pillar of Romania's foreign policy.

The foreign minister also reviewed Romania's progress in the process of joining the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), reiterating Romania's firm commitment to becoming a member state of this organisation next year, an achievement that will open up new possibilities for cooperation with American companies.

Also, during the meeting, elements were agreed upon regarding the upcoming annual AMRO mission to Bucharest, planned for the end of October, which will provide the opportunity for new rounds of discussions between the Romanian authorities and the management of American companies that invest or intend to invest in Romania, the abovementioned press release shows.
