Secretary of State with the Foreign Affairs Ministry and national coordinator of Romania's OECD accession process Luca Niculescu declared on Wednesday that "all the premises" are in place for Romania to effectively join the OECD by next year, provided that the same pace of progress is maintained and the relevant institutions remain just as committed.
"We need to speed up a little as regards certain files, but for now I don't see any signs of concern," Niculescu told the conference "Romania and the OECD - The main country project after NATO, EU and Schengen accession", an event organized by the Presidential Administration.
Luca Niculescu specified that Romania is halfway through the accession process and still has 13 approvals to receive in order to acquire OECD membership.
According to him, joining the OECD comes with a series of benefits such as more investments, better administration, access to the best databases in the world and analysis of the said statistics, as well as a more influential Romania in the world.
