A Senate plenary session was suspended on Wednesday after the parliamentary groups of the opposition National Liberal Party (PNL) and Save Romania Union (USR) walked out of it in protest against the common position expressed by the chairs of the two chambers of the Legislature on a press statement from the US Department of State on Justice legislation.

The decision of the USR and PNL came after a break for consultations among the floor leaders of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), PNL, USR and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR).

The group of the opposition People's Movement Party (PMP) had walked out before the consultation.
