The City Hall of Oradea (north-west Romania) will put public lighting up for tender, in a program to modernize and delegate the management of the lighting system in the city, so that by 2028 Oradea will be fully lit on LED, Mayor Florin Birta declared on Thursday.

The total value of the contract that will be up for tender is 176 million RON.

"There will be a tender procedure. Whoever wins will have six months for the feasibility study and the project for the works, and in two years, all these investments will have to be made. We estimate that by 2028 all of Oradea will be illuminated with LEDs", emphasized the mayor.

Florin Birta believes that through these investments, a saving of 50% of the electricity costs that the Oradea City Hall pays annually, in this segment, would be reached.

The contract with the private operator will last for 10 years, the winning company being obliged to open a center in Oradea.
