More than 20 tons of metal waste from Bulgaria for commercial companies in Scotland were returned to the sending company because the cross-border transfer documents did not meet the conditions for the transport to enter Romania, the southern Giurgiu Border Police Inspectorate (ITPF) informs in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Monday.
The border police officers at the Giurgiu Border Crossing Point stopped for control, on the way into the country, a means of transport driven by a Ukrainian citizen, aged 57, which, according to the documents he presented, was transporting metal waste, loaded from Bulgaria, for companies in Scotland. As there were suspicions regarding the legality of this transport, the border police requested authorized support from the commissioners of the Giurgiu Environmental Guard.
After checking the transport documents, the law enforcement officers found that the transport of 20,420 kilograms of metal waste did not meet the legal conditions for entry into the territory of Romania and, as a consequence, they did not allow access to the means of transport.AGERPRES
