Over 400 firefighters from 29 counties and the city of Bucharest are deployed to the seaside this summer season, the Dobrogea Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISU) reported on Friday.
The firefighters are deployed on a rotating basis, for two weeks at a time, until the end of August.
"Throughout the summer season, over 400 firefighters from 29 counties of the country and the municipality of Bucharest will supplement the operational staff on the Romanian coast, to ensure a prompt and efficient response to various types of risk. (...) Among the operational means mobilized are boats, extrication ambulances, fire trucks and tracked vehicles. (...) Starting with June 21, the first series of specialists was detached. They join the mixed teams formed together with the personnel from the ISU Constanta, to carry out control and preventive information activities. The crews are changed every two weeks, between June and August," the press release sent by the ISU Dobrogea informs.
The inspections prioritize tourism and leisure facilities with high occupancy rates or where deficiencies in fire safety have been previously identified. The inspection teams also pay attention to temporary structures intended for public events, such as concerts, festivals, theme fairs, as well as campsites, school camps and other seasonal locations.
