Over 5,400 Chinese toys suspected of being counterfeit, valued at around 250,000 lei, were discovered by border policemen in a container which arrived in the Port of Constanta for a company from the Republic of Moldova, the Coast Guard reported on Friday.
According to the quoted source, a joint team made up of border policemen within the Coast Guard and inspectors from the Constanta South - Agigea Border Customs Office inspected a container loaded with goods, which had arrived from China in the maritime port, intended for a commercial company from the Republic of Moldova.
"Following thorough checks, it was found that the container held 5,425 toys, estimated at a value of 250,000 lei, goods suspected of infringing the intellectual property rights of well-known brands," according to the Coast Guard release.
The border policemen are continuing investigations in this case regarding the distribution of products bearing a trademark identical or similar to a registered one for identical or similar goods, which causes prejudice to the holder of the registered trademark, the goods being seized for expert examination.
