Over 6,000 specialists from the country and abroad - doctors, pharmacists, residents, PhD students, students and scientific researchers - are expected to participate in the 13th edition of the Congress of the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, which will begin on Thursday at the Palace of Parliament.
"Becoming the largest event of medical scientific research in Romania, the Congress brings together more than 6,000 participants, who join prestigious lecturers from Romania, the USA, Japan, Italy, Greece, the Netherlands, Finland, Switzerland and Germany," inform the organizers in a press release.
According to the same source, for those who will not be able to physically participate in the scientific event, the recordings of the sessions will be available for two weeks after the event on the platform www.congresumf.ro, as a form of continuing medical education.
"The Congress of the 'Carol Davila' University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest represents a special scientific event that promotes professional excellence and progress in medicine. Over the 12 editions so far, the congress has become a benchmark for innovation and exchange of experience between different medical specialties. Continuing medical education and advanced research are the essential missions of our university, and the congress reflects our commitment to supporting scientific partnerships and interdisciplinary dialogue. This year's edition is taking place under the sign of progress, innovation and professional responsibility in a constantly changing global context. I am convinced that the extremely varied scientific sessions will have a major impact in communicating cutting-edge discoveries and promoting original research," said Viorel Jinga, rector of the 'Carol Davila' University, quoted in a press release.
The university's vice-rector for scientific research and innovation, Simona Ruta, stated that this edition of the congress will focus on how discoveries in experimental medicine translate into precise diagnostic and treatment solutions, adapted to each patient.
"This year we will present several major research projects of our university, financed through European and national funds, dedicated to genomic medicine and cardio- and cerebrovascular diseases, which initiate broad collaborative networks between academia, research institutes and the private sector," emphasised Simona Ruta.
A film will also be presented during the opening ceremony that pays tribute to the personality of professor Daniel Danielopolu, a renowned physiologist and pharmacologist, in marking 70 years since his death.
According to the same source, on Friday, during the congress, two titles of Doctor Honoris Causa will be awarded to Roxana Stegaroiu (Japan) and Konstantinos Sapalidis (Greece).
As every year, the Congress of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Carol Davila" includes in its scientific programme the "Young Scientist Competition", within which the best works with original results in medical scientific research, supported by authors under 35 years of age, will be awarded. The jury of each section (medical, surgical, preclinical, pharmaceutical and dental specialties) will select the winners of the competition, who will be rewarded with a sponsored participation in an international specialist congress.
