Over 700 robotics enthusiasts from 13 countries will participate in the Robotics Championship, taking place at the "Antonio Alexe" Sports Hall in Oradea, May 16-17.

"The Robotics Championship promotes STEM education in a practical and engaging way, bringing students closer to the world of programming and robotic engineering. Although robotics is a current and promising career area, it remains relatively unknown among students, as it is not included in the school curriculum. Therefore, the event provides a unique opportunity for children, students and their families to see robots in action, experience cutting-edge technology, and get inspired for the future," reads a press release from Visit Oradea, one of the event organisers.

According to the press release, participants will come from countries such as the Philippines, Egypt, Türkiye, China, Morocco, Greece, Ukraine, Poland, Belarus and Thailand, a diversity that encourages a valuable exchange of ideas and experiences among young robotics enthusiasts.

Entry to the competition is free, and the public is invited to enjoy a true technological innovation show. Public hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, and until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Competitions in 17 categories will take place simultaneously, and the full event schedule can be found on the official Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Rcoradea.

Outside the venue, a food & coffee area will be set up where participants and spectators can relax between events.

The 2025 edition emphasises global cooperation and extended partnerships. Thus, the Philippines will be represented by winners of the national Robolution competition, while Egypt will bring over 120 young engineers, following the first national edition of the Robotics Championship Egypt held in February 2025.

Türkiye is returning with a record number of high school teams, reflecting the event's growing prestige.

New countries joining include Morocco and China, and a major partnership with Chinese company ZMROBOT will introduce the innovative Super AI Track, focused on artificial intelligence and modular robotics.

Representatives from Robotex International in Estonia, the largest robotics competition in Europe, will also attend, adding international prestige to the Oradea edition.

Launched by professors and students from the Faculty of Managerial and Technological Engineering (IMT) at the University of Oradea, the Robotics Championship has evolved into an international collaboration and competition platform, largely organised by a dedicated volunteer community.

The event's honorary organiser is the University of Oradea, with co-organisers including Oradea City Hall (via Visit Oradea), the Association for Robotics and Mechatronics (ARM) and the Association of Engineering Students in Oradea (ASIO).
