Over 80 people passed away in 2017 following acts of domestic violence, Minister of Internal Affairs Carmen Dan announced in a television show at private TV broadcaster Romania TV on Sunday evening.
According to the quoted source, the number of deaths generated by in-family aggressions dropped from 191 in 2016 to 84 last year."As a woman and Minister of Internal Affairs, I do not see any justification for violence, all the more if this violence is directed towards a woman or a child. (...) Unfortunately, there are situations in which it gets to murder," Dan affirmed.
The Minister underscored that in 2017 approximately 3,000 protection orders were issued, but not observed in almost 1,000 of these cases.
