Over one million people participated in the fifth edition of the "Open Streets - Urban Promenade" project, organized by the Bucharest City Hall, through ARCUB - the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Bucharest and PROEDUS - the Center for Educational and Sports Projects Bucharest, which ended after seven months of events.
According to a press release from the City Hall of Bucharest (PMB) sent on Wednesday, between April and October, Calea Victoriei [Victory Avenue], along with streets and boulevards from four sectors of the Capital, were transformed, weekend after weekend, into an urban promenade dedicated to pedestrians, artists and families.
The pedestrian route on Calea Victoriei - from Dacia Boulevard to Splaiul Independentei - hosted hundreds of artistic installations, theater and dance performances, acrobatics, concerts, exhibitions and activities dedicated to children, bringing together thousands of participants every weekend.
Through its festive atmosphere and cultural offer, "Open Streets - Bucharest" restored the city's sense of belonging and conviviality, offering residents a new perspective on historical urban spaces and demonstrating the cultural potential of the capital.
In 2025, the artistic program on Calea Victoriei, coordinated by ARCUB - the Cultural Center of Bucharest, included over 300 artistic events. The 2025 edition extended the concept of urban promenade outside the city center, through a series of events in Bucharest neighborhoods, aimed at bringing art closer to local communities.
In total, PROEDUS, in collaboration with 17 other partner cultural institutions, organized over 550 artistic and sporting moments in neighborhoods - from theater performances, concerts and workshops for children, to educational and sporting activities - which attracted over 100,000 participants.
Through these initiatives, the project created a dialogue between neighborhoods and the city center, encouraging community participation and the reactivation of public spaces as places for socializing, expressing themselves and urban belonging.
"Open Streets - Bucharest, Urban Promenade" has become, in five consecutive editions, one of the most extensive and beloved cultural projects in Bucharest. Beyond the performances and artistic moments, the event redefined the relationship of Bucharest residents with their city, promoting alternative mobility, outdoor urban life and the rediscovery of heritage.
