Pago, the Romanian app through which almost 10 million utility bills worth over RON 1.1 billion were paid, has launched the real-time money transfer to any card issued by a bank in Romania, solely with the phone number.
Thus, those who have an account in the Pago app can transfer money in real time, at any time, to any card issued by banks in Romania or Revolut, using only the telephone numbers of the recipients. One can also ask for money, and the recipient will receive an SMS with a payment link - no POs, IBANs or registration in the banking platforms.
"Money transfer is, along with bill payment, one of the most frequently used functionalities in Romanian financial apps. Based on suggestions from Pago users, we've created a better payment experience, with transfers made in real time, at any time, including at the weekends or public holidays, between any two cards, regardless of the issuing bank. For now, we have the possibility to transfer between cards issued by Romanian banks or Revolut, and we will launch later this year the transfer option between any cards issued by banks in the European Union," said Adrian Cighi, CEO and co-founder of Pago.
Moreover, to mark the launch of this new feature, the first money transfers made by a Pago user with a Visa card will be free between February 7 and March 30, 2022. During this period, Visa cardholders who are also Pago users will also benefit from other special offers.
Pago is an app launched in 2017, with the help of which one can pay bills to over 380 utility providers, local taxes and fees, phone card top-ups, RCA (mandatory vehicle insurance) and travel insurance or donations to NGOs. The app can be downloaded for free to your phone from the App Store, Google Play or Huawei AppGallery. Pago is also present in Poland, and will be launched in Italy.
