Paralympic Games 2024: Camelia Ciripan, qualifies for singles quarter-finals

Romanian player Camelia Ciripan qualified for the women's singles quarter-finals Para Table Tennis event (WS6), on Sunday, at the Paralympic Games in Paris, after defeating the Norwegian Merethe Tveiten, 3-0 ( 11-6, 11-4, 11-5), informs Agerpres.ro.

 

The Romanian athlete won in just 16 minutes of play.

In the quarter-finals, Camelia Ciripan (45 years old) will face the British Felicity Pickard, who entered directly into this phase of the competition.

Also in table tennis, Bobi Simion will play on Monday, September 2, against the Nigerian Kayode Alabi, in the round of 16 of the singles event (MS6).

Camelia Ciripan, named athlete of the year 2022 in the Romanian Paralympic sport, following the bronze medal obtained at the World Para Table Tennis Championships in Spain, was Romania's flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games in Paris.

Romania is participating with six athletes in this edition of the Paralympic Games, Alexandru Bologa and Daniel Vargoczki in judo, Eduard Novak and Theodor Matican in cycling, Camelia Ciripan and Bobi Simion in table tennis.
