PARIS2024 OLYMPICS Artistic gymnastics: Romania qualifies for the women's team final

Romania qualified for the women's team final in artistic gymnastics, on Sunday, at the Olympic Games in Paris, 12 years after its previous participation.

The Romanians took the last position leading to the finals, with 159.497 points, after competing in the first subdivision.

The USA team, led by Simone Biles, dominated the qualifiers, totaling 172.296 points. The other finalists are: Italy (166.861 points), China (166.28), Brazil (166.499), Japan (162.196), Canada (161.563) and Great Britain (160.830).

Biles was the best gymnast in the all-around competition, scoring a total of 59.566 points, but Romania's Ana Maria Barbosu also qualified for the final, from the 16th position, which ranking included Chiles (USA) and Iorio (Italy), who did not qualify because their teams already had two other athletes who qualified with better scores.

Romanian Sabrina Maneca Voinea qualified for the beam and floor finals, Ana Maria Barbosu qualified for the floor final.

Sabrina Maneca Voinea scored 14.000 in beam (ranking 5th among the athletes who qualified), while Ana Maria Barbosu ranked 17th, with 13.533 points, while Amalia Ghigoarta ranked 30th, with 13.266 points, and Lilia Cosman ranked 41st, 12.833 points.

In the floor competition, Sabrina Maneca Voinea scored 13.800 (ranking 4th among the athletes who qualified), Ana Maria Barbosu ranked 8th (13.600), Amalia Ghigoarta ranked 16th (13.333), and Lilia Cosman ranked 53rd (12.466).

Barbosu ranked 15th in vault, 13.633, and Amalia Ghigoarta ranked 43rd in parallel bars, 13.066.

Last time when Romania caught a final in the Olympic Games was in 2022, in London, when it took the bronze medal in the team competition.
