Romanian rowers Andrei Cornea and Marian Enache qualified, on Tuesday, for the Final A of the men's double sculls event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, after finishing third in the first semi-final.
The Romanians finished third in the 500 and 1,000 metres, but dropped to fourth in the 1,500, finally managing to take the third place in the semi-final, the last one that ensured their qualification to Final A.
Cornea and Enache were clocked with a time of 6 min 15 sec 73/100, being overtaken by the Netherlands (6:13.60) and Spain (6:14.91).
Enache also participated in the Olympic Games in Tokyo, also in double sculls, back then ranking 9th.
The Final A will take place on August 1 (12:30), preceded by Final B (11:42).
The number of Romanian crews qualified for the finals for medals at the 2024 Olympic Games thus reached four, the other three having qualified for the women's double sculls, women's coxless four and women's eight events.
