The centenary anniversary of academic theological education in Cluj-Napoca is a significant moment in the life of the Church and of the Romanian theological education, says the Patriarch Daniel of the Romanian Christian Orthodox Church in a message on Wednesday to the National Congress of the Faculties of Theology of the Romanian Patriarchate, inform agerpres.ro.
"The anniversary of the university centennial in Cluj is a significant moment in the life of the Church and of the Romanian theological education, being an opportunity to appreciate the generations of teachers who have honoured this educational establishment and theological culture, but also an opportunity to cultivate the confessional vocation of Romanian Orthodoxy in the ethnic, confessional and cultural diversity of Transylvania," said Daniel.
According to Daniel, the national and international scientific events organised by the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the Babe-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, attended by representatives of university theological education from the country and abroad, confirm the "valuable academic activity" carried out in this prestigious academic establishments of the Romanian Patriarchate.
The National Congress of the Faculties of Theology of the Romanian Patriarchate, with the theme "The Healing Vocation of Orthodoxy," is part of a series of events in the 'Solemn Year of Pastoral Care and Care for the Sick' and 'Commemorative Year of All Holy Unmercenaries. Now in its tenth edition, this year's congress is organised at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the Babe-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca and brings together hierarchs, representatives of higher education establishments, deans, directors of theology departments, directors of doctoral schools and professors from the faculties of Orthodox theology in the country.
