Prosecutor General Augustin Lazar claimed it was another prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Alba Iulia Court of Appeals who dismissed the case involving President Klaus Iohannis, while all he did was to sign the address communicating the decision to the plaintiff.

The Prosecutor's General Office on Tuesday made public a press release bringing new clarifications regarding the information that appeared in the mass media related to the solving of a case opened after a denunciation was made against President Iohannis, which case was dropped back in 2014 by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Alba Iulia Court of Appeals, at the time headed by Augustin Lazar.

"The file no. 595/P/2014 of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Alba Iulia Court of Appeals regarding a denunciation made against Mr. Klaus Werner Iohannis was given to a prosecutor who solved it on 20.11.2018. The address that communication this solution was signed by the Prosecutor General from the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Alba Iulia Court of Appeals, in his capacity as head of the said institution, who exercises thus his right to represent the respective prosecutors unit. At the time, Augustin Lazar was the Prosecutor General of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Alba Iulia Court of Appeals. The solution was communicated to the plaintiff by the postman, who delivered the document in person, under signature, the evidence of which fact, meaning of the document being received by the plaintiff, on 28.11.2014, being attached to the file in question. The said address indicates the legal path expressly stipulated in the Cpp and the deadline by which the plaintiff had the possibility of challenge the solution, in case he considered to be illegal," claimed the Prosecutor General.

This reaction of the PG was triggered by mass media releasing certain information, according to which Augustin Lazar lied when saying that he solved no case involving Klaus Iohannis.

The Prosecutor's Office underscored that Augustin Lazar only sign the address communicating the solution to the plaintiff, which was his job to do, when he was heading the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Alba Iulia Court of Appeal.

"The chronological exposure of fact of the above-mentioned file clearly showed that the solution was given by another prosecutor and not by Augustin Lazar, who - as Prosecutor General of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Alba Iulia Court of Appeals in 2014 - he only signed the address for communicating the solution to the plaintiff, signing such correspondence being his job as the head of the Prosecutor's Office," stated the Prosecutor's General Office.
