Romania's Prosecutor General Augustin Lazar says there is no good reason for the dismissal of prosecutor-in-chief of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) Laura Codruta Kovesi.
"We have to know in this sensitive domestic context regarding the amendments of Justice laws, regarding the completion of some important cases involving persons with public activity, especially the DNA, but also the DIICOT [Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism] are exposed structures, that are the most criticised, especially through their leaders. There is no grounded reason for the dismissal of the DNA chief prosecutor, who clearly works within the law," Augustin Lazar stated for RFI.
