The photography exhibition "Silviu Purcarete - 50 Years of Theatre" will open on March 5 at the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant (MNTR).

According to a press release of the MNTR sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday, the project was initiated by the director of the Vis-a-Vis Cultural Association, Adriana Moca, who was part of the artistic team of the "Marin Sorescu" National Theatre in Craiova for nine years and also played in theatre shows signed by Silviu Purcarete, after which she continued to follow the director's activity, recording it through reviews and articles.

Unique in Romania, the exhibition includes photographs from the personal archive and are taken by Silviu Purcarete, Mihaela Marin, Dragos Buhagiar, Helmut Sturmer, Sean Hudson, Patrick Fabre, Pierre Borasci, Simon Anannd (Royal Shakespeare Company), Thilo Beu, Rares Zaharia, Adi Bulboaca, Alex Condurache, Eori-Szabo Zsolt, Peter Uhan, Petru Cojocaru, Iulian Ursachi, Nicu Cherciu, Aki Tanaka, Aoi Itoh, Dragos Spiteru.

"The photographs show so many fabulous Romanian artists who accompanied Purcarete: Stefan Iordache, a sensational Richard III or Titus Andronicus, Ilie Gheorghe, a miraculous Caliban, Faust or Mr. Ubu, alongside Valer Dellakeza, Dan Condurache, Leopoldina Balanuta, Monica Ghiuta, Olga Tudorache, Carmen Galin, Victor Rebengiuc and Mariana Mihut, Horatiu Malaele, George Mihaita, Mirela Cioaba, Ofelia Popii, Virgil Flonda, Constantin Chiriac, Claudiu Bleont, Marius Manole, Maia Morgenstern, Virginia Rogin, Pusa Darie and other wonderful Hungarian, French, Jewish, English, Russian, Japanese, Greek, Norwegian, Slovenian, German artists. Once again it is proven that talent has no nationality or ethnicity and that, through his art, Silviu Purcarete invented a theatrical Wonderland," Adriana Moca stated in the abovementioned press release.

Organized by the Vis-a-Vis Cultural Association and co-financed by the AFCN (National Cultural Fund Association) in 2024, the year in which the director celebrated 50 years of career in theatre, with 124 theatre and opera shows staged all over the world, the exhibition will be open until March 30.

Along with other institutions, the National News Agency AGERPRES is among the media partners of the MNTR.
