Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan proposed on Friday, at a news conference at the Government House, the conclusion of a political pact, a political agreement valid for the coming years, to implement measures in the energy field.
"In the energy field, apart from responding to crises, which we are currently doing , things are solved through stable long-term policies, through serious investment projects and in general through a predictable and responsible attitude. And what is currently happening in in the area of energy, what I have noticed (...) is an effect of the lack of a strategy in this area over the past years, of the lack of investment, of the flight from responsibility, of the delay, if I may say so, in many places, and of staff policies that have not promoted competence and results. In order to correct these things, measures are needed that I have already emphasised in my speeches from this desk, but I will point them out once again. For it to become a reality, we need a political pact, a political agreement, which should be maintained at least for a few years, so that we can see serious results," Bolojan said.
He added that this political pact should be discussed at the beginning of the parliamentary session this autumn, in order to adopt certain legislative measures.
"These are some basic elements, which if we have the wisdom to sustain consistently in the coming years, starting next year the situation in the energy system will improve substantially, because new production facilities would come into operation, because we will reduce imbalances by increasing storage facilities, both through public investments, and through private investments. Through better management of the large energy companies we will have more performance in the system. These are the basic elements of an energy pact, which this autumn, after the parliamentary session resumes, I think we should discuss seriously and where legislative changes need to be made. It is less important who proposes them, who assumes their paternity, the important thing is to have them put into practice, to have predictability in the coming years, good rules, efficiency in the system and then we will really have energy without crises and as good prices as possible for citizens and companies," Bolojan added.
