Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan called on Friday for a reform in the area of public order, so that there are fewer employees in dispatch centers or guarding objectives and more people in the field.

"There is a need for a reform of public order and what was presented to the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the past days is a basis for this reform. Just think that we have almost 10,000 gendarmes who guard various objectives. If we reduce their number in these roles by 20-30 percent and deploy them to the streets, we will see more public order and safety in the areas where we have problems," Ilie Bolojan told a news conference held at the Vitoria Palace, marking 100 days in office, according to Agerpres.

He supported an integration of the dispatch systems. Reducing the number of employees in dispatch centers or offices will allow the presence of the necessary forces on the ground.

"Today, we have in each county seat, four dispatch centers, all separate. Remember how ambulance and SMUR dispatch centers used to be in past years, how they would compete and sometimes nobody responded. These people could be on the streets. And supervision, which means more safety, fewer crimes and offences on the streets in busy areas, should be carried out through some efficient systems in order to ensure greater safety for our citizens - on the streets, in apartments, in homes. This means fewer people on guard duty, in dispatch centres and offices, an accurate calculation of forces and more people in the field where problems exist," Ilie Bolojan mentioned.
