Minister of Internal Affairs Catalin Predoiu is set to announce next week the reform draft for the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI), Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan informed on Thursday.

Similar measures need to be adopted by each minister, the Prime Minister told a press conference held at the Victoria Palace.

"This is what every minister must do: analyze their institutions, see how many decentralized services they have in each county, if they can be merged and many of them can be, obviously, with staff reductions," Bolojan said.

On the other hand, he pointed out that following the merger between the National Agency for Environmental Protection and the Agency for Protected Areas, a new structure was created that actually has more positions than the initial number of employees.

The Prime Minister estimated that Romania would not face a recession in 2026 and that there would be a slowdown in inflation growth.

"Regarding the recession, the measures that have been taken obviously had a slightly contractionary effect, given the slowdown in economic growth in European countries. We are in a situation that sometimes helps us when needed - because we are interconnected with the European economy - or it slows down our own economic development, since the majority of Romania's exports are linked to what happens in European countries. I estimate that we should not face a recession next year, inflation growth should slow down, and from the first months of next year, inflation should start to decrease," the PM explained.
