State-owned enterprises where there are "chronic" losses, who are "a black hole" for the budget must be liquidated, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said on Friday.
"We have almost 50 companies still in which the procedures for appointing the management according to the legislation that is accepted by the European Union are not respected. We are working on two components. On the one hand, because in companies where there are chronic losses, where the liabilities are much higher than the assets, we complete the liquidation procedures. So, the companies that are a black hole, (...) state-owned enterprises must be liquidated, some of them. We are currently finalising the list, next week the list on which the Government will work will be communicated, in a first stage, for their liquidation," Bolojan said in an interview with the website "Free Europe Romania", when asked about the appointments in state-owned companies, and the situation at the ROMARM defence company, given that Minister of Economy Radu Miruta, announced having filed a criminal complaint in connection with the appointment of its management, agerpres reports.
Asked if when he talks about the liquidation of some state-owned enterprises he is also referring to the Railway Freight Transport Company - CFR Marfa, given that according to an analysis "termene.ro" is the main company with large debts to the state, he replied: "It is one of the companies that will go into liquidation, for sure."
The prime minister added that he asked the ministries for a staging and a programming as clear as possible regarding the completion of the procedures for selecting the management of the companies under their authority, so that the relevant milestone in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) is fulfilled.
In the case of ROMARM, Bolojan said, there must be accountability. "I think that Mr Miruta has enough clear elements when he triggered such a notification. I don't have all the data. It means that something there was wrong. Given that the way these selections were made is not right, there must be accountability for it, if, indeed, the law was obviously violated."
