Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan welcomed His Holiness Bartholomew I, Archbishop of Constantinople - New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch, and His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church (BOR) on Tuesday, at the Victoria Palace, occasion on which he expressed his heartfelt gratitude for their prayers and blessings for Romania.

"It was a great Christian joy to see them again after Sunday's historic moment, when we all witnessed the consecration ceremony of the National Cathedral's iconography. A friend of the Romanian people and a good connoisseur of our country's realities, His Holiness Bartholomew I has visited Romania 11 times as Patriarch. I conveyed my warm thanks to him for carrying Romania in his prayers and blessings," the Prime Minister said, according to the Government's Facebook page.

He said he took the opportunity of the meeting to "express his gratitude to His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, who has fulfilled the dream of our nation's believers."

"The National Cathedral is not only a place of reflection, unity and blessing for the believers of Romania, but also a landmark of our spiritual values. May God bless Romania!," PM Bolojan said.
