Romania is a secure country, firmly attached to democratic values and engaged in an economic consolidation and development process, Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca said on Monday in his address at the Romania Business & Investment Roundtable event.

"I want to convey a signal of confidence to the business community. Romania is a secure country, firmly attached to democratic values and engaged in an economic consolidation and development process. Our economic model based on resilience, cohesion and solidarity, as well as the determination to remain at the forefront of the transformation process entailed by the new European project maintain Romania as a favorable business destination. In everything representing our government's goals, our priority is the creation of a safe business environment and also identifying solutions for everything that means putting the citizen at the center. (...). It is also the part whereby we very much want to support job keeping and, in general, everything sustainable economic growth," Nicolae Ciuca said, Agerpres.ro informs.

The head of the Executive went on to say that on the occasion of his participation in the meeting of the NATO Southeast European heads of government in Sofia today, he discussed with his Bulgarian, Montenegrin and North Macedonian counterparts the impact of the Ukraine war on security and economic developments in the region.

"Since I am back from the meeting I had with the other three Prime Ministers, I would like to mention that we discussed everything that could be related to the impact of the Ukraine war on security and economic developments and I told them that the Romanian government is already looking for solutions to support any initiative, any opportunity to relocate businesses from the countries affected by the Ukraine war, and I invite you to please access all the opportunities the Romanian government, the Romanian business environment has to offer in this regard," Ciuca declared.

He also highlighted the importance of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and other European funds in addition to state budget investment allocations.

"European solidarity, marked by the historic decision to adopt the European Recovery and Resilience Facility in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, now continued through the Temporary Crisis Framework, will provide support for the necessary reforms that should benefit all Romanians and society as a whole. Amid the multiple security crises, the energy and health crisis, the Romanian government remains firmly committed to its goal of protecting citizens and supporting the economy through investments financed from the state budget and European funds. (...) Whether we talk about digitalization and energy, health and infrastructure, education and the environment, we have the prospect of a sustainable development that will put its defining mark on the country's modernization and increase the people's living standards. This is an unprecedented volume of investments for the next 5 years. The mobilization of the private environment together with the capacity of the administration are two important pillars for ensuring the success of this ambitious plan," Ciuca remarked.

The head of the government also referred to the talks he will have on Tuesday with European Commissioner for the Economy Paolo Gentiloni about the European economic support framework.

"What is gratifying is that EU's economic growth forecast is at 4 percent and at the same time there is this concern to keep the impact of the Ukraine war on our economies as low as possible. As such, your presence here, at this event, encourages us to stay optimistic and hope that there is interest in everything meaning opportunities in the Romanian economy and, at the same time, that there are guarantees that Romania is a place to invest safely, with benefits both for investors and the Romanian citizens," the Premier concluded.
