Subjects related to the combat of anti-Semitism, denial and the preservation of the memory of the Holocaust, which are all placed under the fourth pillar of EU shared values, are priorities for the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU, Prime Minister Viorica Dancila said on Wednesday in Brussels as she met Katharina von Schnurbein, European Coordinator on combating anti-Semitism.

The Romanian PM took the occasion to thank for the active involvement of the European Coordinator in the organization of the conference on anti-Semitism, assuring her of Romania's support for the European Commission's projects dedicated to the implementation of the Council Declaration of December 6, 2018 on the fight against anti-Semitism and the development of a common security approach to better protect Jewish communities and institutions, the government said in a release.

PM Dancila also informed on Romania's plans to organize on March 11 in Bucharest a conference on the fight against Holocaust denial through educational and remembrance policies; the event is aimed at promoting one of the most important current projects of Romania on this subject - the opening in Romania of the National Jewish History and Holocaust Museum.

Premier Viorica Dancila is to open in Brussels the conference on The Fight against Anti-semitism: a Common Approach to better Protect Jewish Communities in Europe - from Policy to Action (February 7, 2019), an event organized by Romania in the context of its term at the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
