AGERPRES special correspondent Dana Piciu reports: Prime Minister Viorica Dancila spoke on Thursday in the plenary session of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) about a deep crisis of confidence at European level, a crisis of a double standard and a division of Europe.
"A deep crisis of confidence at European level, a crisis of the double standard and a division of Europe, indeed, this is the current situation and we must start from the real situation to find solutions that will lead to an improvement of this situation. Indeed, Europe is divided, indeed, we have a double standard. We need a united Europe where all member states are treated equally and this depends only on us, on how we will refer to the existing challenges and how we will give the answer that the citizens expect. If we further divide Europe more, then we cannot wonder that the next configuration of the European Parliament will be one that shall not allow right decisions to be made for the European citizens," Dancila said, responding to the questions she was asked.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister said that cooperation between all European institutions is needed, between all the forces that can lead "this European construction in a good direction", so that the European Union be more cohesive, united and strong.
"That's why I came here today and I came with the belief that the future of the EU must bear our mark, [the mark] of all, because when we are drawing the future of the EU it won't be just the future that the Romanian Presidency will be drawing, it will be the future that we all will be drawing and it shall not be just a success of our Presidency, but it shall be our success, of all of us and I hope that you, members of the European Economic and Social Committee, find yourself in the policies, the files that will be completed during our Presidency, but what you propose should be found in the future European policies as well," she said.
The PM presented the priorities of the Romanian Presidency at the EU Council in the plenary session of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), which took place in Brussels.
