The investment programme of the defence industry was one of the topics discussed at the meeting that took place at the end of the week in Bran between Prime Minister Mihai Tudose and leaders of four trade union confederations in the area.

Trade union leader of Nitramonia-Rompiro Fagaras Lucian Cupu told AGERPRES that "it was the best and most fruitful meeting with a PM since 2000 up to now."

"It's the first prime minister who accepted such a discussion about the issues in the defence industry. A similar encounter has not happened since 2000, since Adrian Nastase's time. Mr Mihai Tudose knows very well the problems in this area, back from when he was the Economy Minister. We talked concretely, in an applied manner, it was an extremely beneficial meeting. We did not go to this meeting to solve all the problems in the next second, nobody has a magic wand, but, once again, I am telling you that it was a meeting that pleases us," Lucian Cupu stated.

He added that among the problems they discussed, there were those referring to the investment programme of this sector, namely a part of the 2 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) earmarked to Defence be returned to the industry, and the profit made in this economic sector be kept in Romania.

In respect to the re-opening of the Powder Factory in Fagaras, the company which the Prime Minister visited in April 2017, when he was the Economy Minister, Lucian Cupu said the environmental permit is completed, technological samples were carried out and, most probably, the company will run in the first quarter of next year.
