Prime Minister Mihai Tudose says that he will personally monitor the effort on improving the European funds absorption, pointing out that this money is necessary to support economic growth.

The head of the Executive asked the two ministers to prepare, on a priority basis, until September 20, the simplification of all necessary procedures for the absorption of European funds.
"I will personally monitor all this effort on improving the European funds absorption. We need this money to support economic growth. The ministers have my entire support to unblock or speed things up, so that we recoup the delays," Tudose said.
Moreover, the head of Government asked Ministers Shhaideh and Plumb to make sure that the necessary procedures for beginning the construction of the three regional hospitals can be completed until the end of this year, so that works begin next year, according to the things also discussed in Brussels on Tuesday, the release also shows.
Prime Minister Mihai Tudose, while on a visit to Brussels on Tuesday, said that 600 million euro worth of funds were unblocked this week.
"A good piece of news is that (...) 600 million euro worth of funds were unblocked through those famous management authorities, which begin being validated. It is a first good sign. (...) Since January 1, we have been trying to untangle and implement these things after the 2016 governance, which had absorption (...) zero and we haven't found any management authority operating," Tudose said.
He also referred to the unblocking of funds for the project aimed at building three regional hospitals.
"We expect the project from the European Investment Bank until September. (...) Our commitment is that starting September until the end of the year we also finish the public procurement procedures, so that, starting next year, the works may actually begin," Tudose also said.
