The police will mandatorily test certain motorists for consuming alcohol or psychoactive substances, according to an Emergency Ordinance for the amendment and completion of some normative acts in order to increase road safety, approved by the government on Friday.
Through this ordinance, criteria are introduced regarding the establishment of the legal obligation of the traffic police to require certain motorists to be tested in order to determine the consumption of psychoactive substances or the concentration of alcohol in the exhaled air, the government informed.
The respective criteria refer to the situation in which containers that may contain alcoholic beverages and which show traces of consumption or substances likely to have psychoactive effects are observed in the vehicle, as well as in the event that the driver of the vehicle has repeatedly committed, in the last 3 years, certain contraventions or crimes related to the consumption of alcohol, drugs or psychoactive substances
