EUROPOL, the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation will analyze, after the protests taking place this week, the possibility for the police to refuse, starting with January 1, to carry out pandemic-specific activities, the president of the trade union, Cosmin Andreica, told AGERPRES on Thursday, at the beginning of the rally organized by the union in front of the headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"On December 1st, we started the form of protest to sanction contravention deeds, mainly with a warning and not with a fine. This week we had the physical protests and later, after the discussions we will have with colleagues, we will analyze if starting on January 1, 2022, we will resort to the third stage of the protests, namely to refuse to work overtime and to refuse to perform tasks and duties that we, as police officers, have neither in the law nor in the job description, Here, too, I am referring to pandemic-specific activities, checking people in quarantine and in isolation at home, COVID-related actions, and so on. The possibility of refusing overtime will obviously generate an imbalance, because at the moment, due to the shortage of staff we have, a police officer covers for two or three police officers at work," said Cosmin Andreica.

The leader of the EUROPOL union stressed that the police only demand compliance with the legal provisions regarding the payroll.

The president of the police trade union stated that the incomplete salary proposal sent by the Government on Wednesday determined the police unionists to continue the protests.

On the subject of imposing the COVID certificate at work, the union leader pointed out that the EUROPOL union does not accept in any form the conditioning of work based on vaccination.
