Drone incursions into Romania's territory should be rather regarded as "accidents", Russia's true hostile action lies in its decade-long campaign of disinformation and manipulation, President Nicusor Dan said on Wednesday after presenting Romania's National Defense Strategy to Parliament, inform Agerpres.
"All these drones that from time to time enter our territory are accidents ... Where we can say with precision that this is a hostile action by Russia is the 10-year campaign of disinformation and manipulation. That is a certainty. If you look at what has happened with drones across Europe, you will see that this type of incident has occurred in many other places. It happened at various airports too," the president said, describing them as technical issues rather than intentional aggression.
He said that he discussed the most recent incident of this type with the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the Defense Staff.
"In general, the explanations that I have seen given by them in the public space are the real ones," said the president.
An unladen drone crashed on Tuesday in Puiesti, Vaslui County, Defense Minister Ionut Mosteanu said during his visit on the same day to the 57th Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base.
