AGERPRES special correspondent Oana Ghita reports: President Nicusor Dan met on Saturday in Salzburg with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker. At the beginning of the meeting, the Romanian president thanked the head of the Austrian government for the invitation, stating that "following the Schengen-related situation", the two countries should work together and forge a strong economic bond, remarking that the Danube Strategy is a good opportunity for this.
President Dan is on an official visit to Austria, accompanied by his family.
On the first day of his visit, on Friday, he told a joint press conference delivered with Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen that "after a relatively tense period", a new chapter is opening in the relationship between the two countries. He also said that among other things, their discussion also focused on bilateral economic relations and the Danube Strategy, which represents an excellent economic opportunity for the countries along the Danube.
The Austrian visit of the Romanian head of state will end on Saturday evening when he will attend the premiere of Handel's opera Julius Caesar in Egypt at the Haus für Mozart in Salzburg.
