Similar acts to the foiled sabotage operation will be included in the report regarding the annulment of elections, President Nicusor Dan told a news conference on Friday, following the European Council meeting.
"An act of sabotage was foiled by the Romanian services, that is the most important thing. The communication was made on the day it happened. Whether this could have been done by someone more publicly exposed is a question," the head of state said.
He brought to mind that he would present the report regarding the annulment of presidential elections in Romania. "When we will come with that report, this fact and similar ones will be part of the report," he said.
The Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) announced that, in cooperation with national and international partners, it has foiled a new sabotage operation orchestrated by the Russian Federation on Romanian territory, which targeted a company based in Bucharest.
The Romanian Intelligence Service, in cooperation with the DIICOT [Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism], the MAI [Ministry of Internal Affairs] - the DCCO [Combating Organized Crime Directorate], the MApN [Ministry of National Defence] - the DGIA [General Directorate for Defense Intelligence], as well as foreign partner services, prevented a new sabotage operation on national territory involving two Ukrainian citizens, who were under the direct coordination of Russian intelligence representatives, their objective being to destroy, by arson, the headquarters of the Nova Post company in Bucharest," the quoted source mentioned.
