Mayor Nicusor Dan stated on Thursday that the operation to return Horatiu Potra, along with Dorian and Alexandru Potra, to Romania under escort confirms the Romanian state's firm commitment: the constitutional order is defended, and those suspected of actions against it face justice.
"The operation to repatriate Horatiu Potra, together with Dorian and Alexandru Potra, under escort confirms the Romanian state's firm commitment: the constitutional order is defended, and those suspected of actions against it face justice. I appreciate the efforts of the Ministries of Justice and Internal Affairs, as well as all the international institutions that cooperated to achieve this result," Nicusor Dan wrote on Facebook.
Mercenary Horatiu Potra was brought back to Romania on Thursday on a flight from Dubai and was taken into custody by police at Otopeni Airport.
Accompanying Potra were his son, Dorian Potra, and another family member, Alexandru Potra. All three had been subject to international warrants after leaving Romania earlier this year.
"On Thursday, a Romanian Police escort repatriated three individuals to Romania, all wanted internationally, against whom preventive arrest warrants had been issued. Police brought back a 55-year-old man from Sibiu County, wanted internationally for attempted actions against the constitutional order, violations of weapons and ammunition regulations, and violations of explosive materials regulations. He was returned from the United Arab Emirates under a preventive arrest warrant issued by the High Court of Cassation and Justice - Criminal Section," stated a release from the Romanian Police General Inspectorate.
According to the Romanian Police, two other men, aged 19 and 31, also from Sibiu County, were repatriated to Romania. Both were wanted internationally for attempted actions against the constitutional order, with preventive arrest warrants issued in their names.
