AGERPRES special correspondent Oana Ghita reports: Romania has begun "a fairly long process of reconciliation between the administration and the society," President Nicusor Dan stated on Monday, at a meeting with representatives of the Romanian diaspora hosted by our country's embassy in the French capital city.
"About Romania, I want to tell you that, despite the news - well, Latin people, great passions - beyond that, in my opinion, Romania today has the maturity to self-evaluate, to know what it can do, it has a very dynamic private sector, and an administration that, to some extent, operates in good faith, but in any case it is more mature and is starting to know what it wants. And compared to where we risked being last year, I think we have all learned our lessons, and I think we have begun a fairly long process of reconciliation between the administration and the society. So, essentially, in short, I want to tell you that I am optimistic, and to invite you to continue the dialogue so that we will be able to do many things together," said the head of state, agerpres reports.
He thanked the representatives of the Romanian associations in France for their efforts in preserving the Romanian identity.
"You are a very important business card for us. And I want to thank you, in general, for managing to keep Romania with you here, especially the associations that are trying to attract others to this enterprise," said President Nicusor Dan.
He also showed that the Presidential Administration is trying to create an interface for the collaboration with Romanian communities abroad.
"It is obviously in everyone's interest to do it, to be able to expand communication, whether it is in an academic area or in an economic area, and I hope this is just a first stage in a dialogue that we are starting. The problem has always been that, even if everyone participates in good faith, we should still have an interface. And we are trying to do this at the Presidential Administration, to create an interface so that, in a structured way and for all Romanians living outside Romania, we can do things that will last and that will make our actions more efficient," he said.
During the ceremony, the Children's Choir of the Parish The Holy Three Hierarchs - La Courneuve sang carols, and the head of state offered them gifts.
After the speech, the president discussed and took photos with some of the almost three hundred participants at the reception.
President Nicusor Dan is on a two-day official visit to France. He will be received by President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace on Tuesday.
The head of state's delegation includes Foreign Minister Oana Toiu, Economy Minister and Acting Defence Minister Radu Miruta, and Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare, along with presidential advisors Marius Lazurca, Valentin Naumescu, and Radu Burnete.
