President Klaus Iohannis on Monday stated that the documents regarding the appointment of Adina Florea as head of the Adina Florea (National Anti-corruption Directorate) are currently being analyzed at the presidency, with an answer to be given in an "adequate" amount of time.
"We are currently examining the documents and an answer will be given in an "adequate" amount of time," the head of the state said at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace.
On January 10, Minister of Justice Tudorel Toader requested President Klaus Iohannis to reconsider his "ungrounded" refusal regarding the appointment of five prosecutors in top jobs, among whom Adina Florea as head of the DNA.
On January 9, Iohannis had sent a letter to Toader, in reply to the latter's request to re-evaluate the proposal of appointment as chief-prosecutor of the National Anti-corruption Directorate of Adina Florea.
On November 21, 2018, the President rejected for the first time the proposal to appoint Adina Florea at the helm of the DNA, by reasoning that "the prosecutor doesn't' meet the necessary legal criteria, objectively, to be appointed in a top job, respectively those stipulated by the article 54 paragraph (2), in corroboration with the article 48 paragraph (10) and (12) of Law no. 303/2004."
