Bucharest and Paris are linked by numerous cultural and historical ties, through architecture and art, and the two cities aim to focus their cooperation on the future, through economy, education and advanced technologies in order to find solutions to the development challenges of major cities, President Nicusor Dan said on Tuesday.
He held a meeting with Mayor of France's capital Anne Hidalgo, with whom he discussed Romanian-French cooperation projects in the areas of economy and education, and addressed topics concerning the Romanian community in the French capital.
"Both of us agreed that the Romanians living in Paris play an important role as a catalyst for the Romanian-French cooperation. We agreed that it is important to support them to encourage the development of ties between our countries," the head of state wrote on his Facebook page.
He inaugurated, alongside Anne Hidalgo, the "Nicolae Titulescu" Alley in Paris.
"This is the newest memorial site in the rich series of Romanian presences in the French capital. In these times, when the end of Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine is not yet in sight, we chose to pay tribute to Nicolae Titulescu's efforts, who, as President of the League of Nations, tirelessly fought for negotiation to replace aggression, and for peace and reason to triumph over violence," the President added.
Nicusor Dan is on a working visit to France and on Tuesday he was welcomed by his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, at the Elysee Palace.
