President Nicusor Dan on Wednesday said there was 'a moment of mistrust' in Romania's relation with the United States of America, in the context of last year's cancellation of the presidential election, although the signals on this issue were not official.
"I believe there was a moment of mistrust after the cancellation of the election, a mistrust that did not manifest officially through positions taken by members of the U.S. administration. I believe we have largely moved past that moment, and going forward, within the framework of the Strategic Partnership with the United States, we have multiple levels of dialogue - a very important one in the military area - and on each of these levels, technical discussions must take place before any possible high-level visit," the head of state told a press conference at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace.
