Romania's President Nicusor Dan will welcome NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace on Wednesday, during Rutte's first visit to Romania since taking office as head of the Alliance, the Presidential Administration announced.
The NATO head will be welcomed at around 13:00.
According to the same source, the visit of the high-ranking NATO official takes place in the context of his participation in the NATO-Industry Forum (Bucharest, 5-6 November), an event dedicated to strategic dialogue with the defence industries of the allied states.
The President of Romania and the NATO Secretary General will both attend the forum on Thursday.
The discussions between President Nicusor Dan and the NATO Secretary General will focus on the threats facing the North Atlantic Alliance, particularly on the Eastern Flank, as well as on ways to strengthen Romania's security and the Alliance's collective defence and deterrence capability.
The official programme of the NATO Secretary General also includes meetings with other Romanian officials and participation in a public diplomacy event.
