President Nicusor Dan said on Tuesday that it is important for everyone to expose imposture in their field of activity, noting that an information war is being waged in medicine as well.
"There is an actor, Russia, that is waging an information war against Romania, against European countries and several Western states, and this war is also being carried out in the medical field. Unfortunately, it is not enough for each of us to simply do our job; we must actively intervene in this information war, so that the voice and credibility of professionals enter the debate. Because someone who has spent ten years in medical school and continued to train and attend congresses is one thing, and someone who sells an online ad for a miracle cure - and who, as we have seen, has caused tragedies because people were not properly informed - is something entirely different," the head of state said in Timisoara, where he visited the Major Burn Center of the 'Pius Brinzeu' County Emergency Clinical Hospital together with Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete.
The president also stressed that part of Romania's development over the past 20 years is owed to the European Union.
"Of course, Europe is also a subject of debate, and Europe has made some mistakes. We must be more involved in shaping the direction of this project. But when we look at the overall picture, we should not forget this: part of Romania's development in the last 20 years comes from the European Union," he concluded.
