The President of the High Court of Cassation and Justice, Lia Savonea, stated on Thursday that she will "categorically" vote against the new bill on the reform of magistrates' pensions if it is added to the agenda of the plenary session of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM).

"I will cast a categorical vote against it, because we are witnessing a de facto elimination of service pensions. (...) Everyone has perceived it as enormous pressure in recent weeks. And I think the same as my colleagues," Savonea told broadcaster Digi24 on her arrival at the CSM, referring to the possibility that the amended bill on special pensions could be added to the agenda if Council members propose it at the start of the meeting, agerpres reports.

The new bill on magistrates' service pensions was published last week for public consultation, and the CSM has 30 days to issue an advisory opinion.
